Vintage WWII RAF Pilot Wing PIN British War Relief Society Accessocraft The British War Relief Society (BWRS) played a crucial role during the early years of World War II by providing non-military aid to people in Great Britain . The BWRS, founded in 1939 acted as an umbrella organization coordinating the efforts of various grassroots groups in the United States. Its mission was to supply essential aid such as food, clothing, medical supplies, and financial assistance to the British population during the war. The Royal Air Force (RAF) played a heroic role during the war and i nspired by the RAF’s success, the BWRS produced wing pins that were sold to further the effort. Here is one of those pins. Gold tone metal with blue and red enameling. Back states: Official BWRS Pat. Apld for by Accessocraft. Has a short chain attached with a locking clasp on the pin. Measures about 1 5/8" x 5/8".
