A large and beautiful Victorian pendant dating to the mid-19th century , crafted in fire-gilt silver (vermeil) or gilt silver in the Etruscan Revival style . At the center is a finely executed micro mosaic depicting the Roman Forum , set on a deep blue glass/enamel ground . This type of mosaic work was produced in Rome for the Grand Tour market and is highly collectible. Origin: Rome, Italy Period: circa 1850s–1870s The pendant is framed by an ornate gilt silver mount with a decorative triangular bale, consistent with high-quality Roman workmanship of the period.
