In the late 1970s Lamborghini entered into an agreement with BMW to build a production racing car, but ultimately after disputes with the Italian manufacturer BMW was forced to produce the car themselves. The result was sold to the public, from 1978 until 1981, as the BMW M1. It was the first mid-engine BMW automobile to be mass-produced. This jacket, made by German leather producer Hein Gericke, aligns with the time period German manufacturer BMW produced the M1. My guess is this was the leather sports jacket made to accompany the purchase of an M1. One of the rarest pieces of BMW history in existence, and one I’ll greatly struggle to part with. The patina is delightful, lovely coloring up and down the sleeves. A truly special piece. The arms fully unzip and disassemble, allowing you to modify it however you see fit.
