Description
Edmund Burke was born in Ireland. He was an Orator, Philosopher and Politician. He entered Parliament in 1765 in the government of William Pitt the younger and served until 1794. He is known for his opposition to the French Revolution and to the slave trade, support for American Independence, criticism of the East India Company and a failed attempt to impeach the, then, Governor of Bengal. This 4 volume collection is Leather bound with tooled decoration and marbled edges. They are complete and well bound with no loose pages. There is a tape bookmark in each. There are some pencil marks and water marks on a few pages and volume IV has the name Walter Boldero 1892 inscribed inside front (I am wondering if this may have been Walter Boldero Paton?), vol I has R. Jones. There are some scuff marks on the leather but on the whole these books are in much better condition than others I have seen at a similar price. They are from my late father's collection. Reasonable offers will be considered. Total weight - 2.8kg without packing
