In a short time he acquired the prestige of a portrait painter and illustrator. Drechsler worked for almost all of the lithographic companies between the 30's and the 50's. In the 50's Drechsler left almanac work to concentrate on commissioned portraits, it was popular for the bourgeoisie and artists from the entertainment world to have in their living rooms a portrait with Drechsler's signature. Drechsler's style was often compared to Rolf Armstrong.
