Description
A truly rare find for men's fashion collectors and researchers. With some restoration efforts, the caftan can continue to be used to reconstruct scenes or other occasions. This element of the riding costume is completely authentic, as evidenced by the materials and accessories used for sewing, as well as the ZOLLAMT RIEHEN customs stamp with the date located on the lining fabric at the hem. It is difficult to establish the exact date of sewing of the caftan, since the fabric for the lining could have been purchased in advance. The top material is thick brown velvet, the lining is cotton, as well as silk inserts. Fittings: bronze buttons with gilding (presumably), marked A.W. PARIS. Absolutely all the buttons are in their places. Some buttons have a fragmented dark coating that can be removed quite easily. In the interests of safety, I did not try to clean it; such actions are best left to a professional. The cut of the Kaftan is complemented by 2 side flaps imitating pockets (there are no pockets themselves) and one internal chest pocket. The velvet is in fairly good condition for its age and for a used item. There are places on the velvet that are lighter in color (something like slight abrasion or crushing). There is a small tear in the center of the back in the waist area (you can see it in the photo). The condition of the lining can be seen in the photo.
