In 1949 the NY Yankees knocked off the Brooklyn Dodgers four games to one for the second time in three years, and won their first of five consecutive championships. Manager Casey Stengel won his first Fall Classic. Press Pins have been distributed since 1911. They are provided to media members by the host teams for World Series games. The press pins are made to be worn on the lapel to provide reporters access to cover the games. This Yankee Stadium press pin has a threaded post, and was made by Dieges & Clust. Dieges & Clust were jewelers established in New York in 1898 by Col. Charles Joseph Dieges and Prosper Clust. It was founded as a partnership between the men and was converted to a company in 1908.
