Turbocharger Visual Inspection Procedure 1.Check the compressor wheel for Damage. 2.Check the compressor wheel for rubbing with housings. 3.Check the shaft for free rotation. 4.Check the shaft for free rotation. NOTE Follow the same inspection procedure for turbine side also. Pneumatic Actuator Assembly Checking Procedure Check the Turbocharger actuator assembly for its proper functioning i.e. check for damages, tampering, loose or open connections. When the engine is switched-on (while engine in running condition), turbocharger actuator control rod will be in closed condition i.e. Actuator control rod length will be minimum. During the engine operation the turbocharger actuator control rod moves freely without restriction. Symptoms: Vehicle speed is not O.K, Check Engine light is ON. Diagnosis on the Vehicle: Connect the engine diagnostic and check for fault code (Ex.: Engine airflow deviation -Not O.K) Checks on vehicle 1.The vacuum hoses for correct fitment, Open / damaged hoses will cause actuator malfunctioning. 2.Switch controlling vacuum supply to actuator for proper functioning. 3.The vacuum pump is functioning correctly. 4.Sufficient vacuum supply is there to turbocharger actuator while the engine is in running condition. Checks on Turbocharger 1.Check if the actuator control rod is proper (ensure that it is not tampered),the adjusting nuts are in place, the control rod is not damaged, rusted, excessively worn-out. 2.Move the control rod with hand confirm its movement is free.
