1920s Lipton Tea Tins Antique Teaware Ceylon Tisane Collectible Metal Tin Set 2 Container Storage Box Lid Rustic Distressed Farmhouse Decor Recovered from an old family home on Keystone Lake in Cleveland, Oklahoma, this antique original 1920s set of two Lipton Tea tins came from the kitchen of my great-great-grandmother Cecelia Hesson. One of the jars is missing it's lid. They are in a beautifully distressed condition, making them an excellent decor piece for a vintage inspired coffee shop. Her history and photo can be seen in the last photo here. My dear, late great-grandmother was her youngest daughter "Mary Catherine"; her mother's old tea tins had been treasured in her home for many years. I imagine these metal tea boxes were once used as storage containers for the tea bags used in our old Hesson family recipe for "Tea Syrup"; the recipe from our family cookbook is as follows... Hesson Family Tea Syrup: 4 qts. water 1/4 t. baking soda 5 gal. size tea bags Bring water to boil; steep tea bags in boiling water for 5 minutes. Remove tea bags and add baking soda. Let cool; put in gallon jugs. Makes strong tea. To serve: 8 c. water to 1 cup tea syrup. This will serve a large crowd and can be made ahead of time and refrigerated. Measurements: 3" wide x 3" tall
