Previous owner's inscription, some tears along edges of wraps, else in very good condition. Te Oranga Māori Me Ōna Tikanga Rekareka is an early 20th-century New Zealand pictorial booklet devoted to Māori daily life, customs, and recreations, issued with text in Māori and English. Translated roughly as “The Well-Being of the Māori and His Pleasant Customs,” the work presents a visual and descriptive record of traditional activities, social practices, and material culture at a moment when Māori life was increasingly being documented for both local and overseas audiences. Combining photographs or illustrations with explanatory captions, the book reflects contemporary ethnographic interests while also serving as a cultural snapshot produced within the Australasian world rather than by later academic institutions.
