Pay Voucher - August 1864 - For William R. Lowe, 1st Lt. 19th U.S. Infantry The voucher is dated Sept. 9, 1864, for self and a black servant Tom; he certifies that he is "on detached duty in Cincinnati by order of Maj. Gen. Sherman." Probably on recruiting duty as all the four Inf. Regt. of the Regular brigade had been much reduced in strength by the end of the Battle of Jonesboro - Atlanta Campaign. Lowe signed the document twice. Paid by Paymaster Coates Kinney.
